New makers: Jonathan, Yu and Stijn

Since the end of the summer, several projects have started at Cross-TIC. We’re slowly introducing them on our social media; every week a new creator is introduced. Therefore, we think it’s also time to give them a spotlight on our website!

Jonathan Doorduin

Jonathan is, in his own words, an “exploratory thoughtful provocateur.” Using a variety of media, he makes played explorations on pressing social issues. In his trajectory, he explores how a short film can gain more depth and meaning. This short film is about Greedy Henry, a mythical story that is an indictment of overconsumption within the (fast) fashion industry and offers a critical look at the history of textile production.

Yu Zhang

Dr. Yu Zhang has a background in fine arts and design. In recent years, she has researched and designed interactive systems that respond to everyday phenomena, environmental issues, child-system interaction, online collaboration platforms and uncertainty in data visualization. During her trajectory, she produces a participatory auditory experience where visitors form their own soundscapes through movement and interaction.

“Ultimately, I hope to create an installation that encourages creativity and engagement while pushing the boundaries of interactive technology and sound art.”

Stijn Bolhuis

Stijn is a returning maker at Cross-TIC. Previously, he has done trajectories with a focus on theater and the intersections it can have with technology. Now he will explore the loss of physicality in digital worlds. His goal is to fuse the physical and the digital body in an installation.

“My goal is to mimic the feeling of “body denial” (losing the self-image of your physical body) in a short time, after which the visitor will think more about which body they actually identify with.”

Keep an eye on our social media to not miss the introductions of the new creators!
