Cross-TIC ONTPOPT: April edition

After a smashing edition in December, we have another showcase on our agenda. During ONTPOPT on April 1st, you’ll have the unique opportunity to crawl inside the heads of our makers and follow their thought processes surrounding their projects. The stimulating stories of our makers will encourage the audience to look at technological innovation in our society from new perspectives.

Date: April 1, 2025
Time: 19:00 to 22:00
Location: Theater Hof88, Elisabethhof 4, 7607 ZD, Almelo

The makers presenting during the showcase are:

Lena C.

…explores how the process of natural growth can be stimulated by sound and other media.

“I have found that these plants adapt to human activities and avoid areas where my roommate and I frequent, while blooming in untouched areas.”

This observation forms the basis of Lena’s concept: exploring the negotiation between human and non-human worlds. You can read more about her project now on Lena’s page.

Jasper Schültz

…produces hologram columns with audience interaction in an audiovisual installation.

“This installation and the technological knowledge I gain will form the basis of more interactive installations to control visuals. I want to start using these installations to get music festival audiences more involved in the experience on the dance floor.”

A visitor influences the audio generative images of dystopian synthesizer soundscapes from a controller booth with industrial joysticks. The more effort someone puts into this, the cooler the images become. You can read more about his project now on Jasper’s page.

Şirin Bahar Demírel

…examines Twente’s textile heritage and incorporates it into an installation about how women have used textiles and needlework in the context of resistance.

“With this research, I want to tap into the region’s textile past and see if I can bring stories to light.”

It is Şirin’s intention to read embroidery, and textile work in general, as non-archival accounts of women’s experiences that were historically rejected. You can read more about her project now on Şirin’s page.

Alexander Zanen

…explores how to visualize a person’s consciousness and emotional world three-dimensionally through a psychogeographic approach.

“In this project, I want to take both the philosophical and ethnographic approach and try to put psychogeography in a ‘new jacket.’ Or rather; a cross-media creation.”

By combining interviews with photo and video archives, an AI feeds this data together into a 3D map of a person’s thought world. You can read more about his project now on Alexander’s page.
